Victoire DONNEGER

Victoire Donneger (b. 2002) is a Marseille-based artist and designer.

Trained in fashion design and a graduate of the Contextual Design master’s at Design Academy Eindhoven, her work explores the hidden intimacy of domestic spaces—how the home becomes a shelter, but also a site where the dysfunctions of a patriarchal society are silently perpetuated.

Her practice focuses on the unspoken realities of feminist women: not in public discourse, but within their homes, their relationships—with themselves, their mothers, their daughters.

Rooted in a deeply personal experience of estrangement and reconciliation with her own mother, Donneger’s work uses epistolary exchange as a tool for healing, building a living archive of mother-daughter communication for those who, like her, once lost the words.

PROJECTS

Dear Mother, Dear Daugther,
2024_25
Evolving installation centered on mother-daughter dialogue through letter writing.
Using traditional techniques (embroidery, engraving, sewing), intimate narratives are transformed into a collective archive — a space of care, resistance, and living memory of female voices.

Curatopia,
2022
A global, illustrated and sound-based installation.
A creative process in which the participant shapes a textile sculpture — a garment bearing witness to their utopia.

Siren’s Song,
2023
Combining autobiographical letter writing with reinterpretations of traditional women’s songs, this piece seeks to deconstruct a family memory shaped by patriarchy. By reclaiming a seat at the table of the past, I give voice to imposed silences and open a space for transmission and repair.

Let Women Decompose in Peace, (W)rotten,
2023
Using the decay of flowers and the spread of mold, this piece reworks the idealized image of Ophelia to dismantle the enduring iconography of the “beautiful dead” in art and cinema. By allowing her body to decompose, sealed away from the voyeuristic gaze, I strip away the painter’s desire and return her death to her, free from possession, fetishization, or control.

Manual for a Memory,
2024
Development of a creative protocol inspired by Georges Perec’s method, combining constraint-based writing and object storytelling.
Through the making of miniature houses,
I explore domestic memory and intimate violence via a series of 3D collages built from a system of rules and banks of elements.
